On-Page SEO

On-page SEO covers everything you control within a page itself: the title tag, headings, body copy, internal links, images, structured data and the URL. It is the most controllable area of search optimisation and usually the fastest one to improve.

Why it matters for your rankings

On-page work is where the effort-to-result ratio is best, because nothing depends on anyone else. You cannot force a link or an algorithm change, but you can rewrite a title today and see the effect within two weeks.

It is also where the most obvious problems hide in plain sight. Pages targeting a term that never appears in the title, headings that describe nothing, commercial pages nothing internally links to, and thin copy that answers only half the question. None of these need a budget to fix. The limit is real, though: on-page optimisation cannot make an irrelevant page rank or overcome a large authority gap. It maximises what your existing content and links can achieve, which is a different job from expanding either.

How to check it on your site

Match title and H1 to the target query

Confirm the primary term appears naturally in both. Missing this is the most common on-page gap.

Check the page answers the query directly

The core answer should appear near the top, not after a long introduction.

Audit internal links into the page

Commercial pages with almost no internal links are being told, structurally, that they do not matter.

Review the supporting elements

Meta description, image alt text, heading hierarchy, URL clarity and structured data all compound.
